If a hypothetical print run is 100,000 comics, the Canadian print run should be about 10% of the American run as the Canadian population is 10% of the American pop, also something I recently discovered, the Canadian Price Variants only apply to Newsstand editions, which are about half the entire print run, also Newsstand editions tend to be harder to find in high grade because Newsstand vendors treat comics with less care and put the books out in spinner racks which tends to crease the spine more easily. So, using that mathematical probability, a comic book with a print run of 100,000 copies would have approximately 5,000 Canadian Price Newsstand Variants, therefore making these books extremely rare and collectible!
For every copy of say Blade Runner #1 out there the Canadian Price Variant represents 1 in 20 issues, so already its a scarce 1 in 20 Variant, but add in the variable that it is a newsstand edition, and high grade VF to MT copies become in accordance to the laws of supply/demand prized and sought after by collector's everywhere for their exclusivity & investment potential.
